Lori is a province (marz) of Armenia. It is located in the north of the country, bordering Georgia. Vanadzor is the capital and the largest city of the province. Other important towns are Stepanavan, Alaverdi, and Spitak. UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Haghpat and Sanahin monasteries as well as a well-preserved Akhtala monastery are located in Lori.
Arrival, Yerevan– Odzun village –Yerevan
Moving from Yerevan at 8:00 in the morning to Odzun.
First will visit Odzun Church (5th-7th century). 1 km from village OdzunHoromayr Monastery (7th century) is located. There are caves within the monastic complex, khachkars, and carvings. The main St. Nshan church was built in 1187, which is located lower and surrounded by rocks.
Having short break and lunch near St. Nshan we will continue our walk by 5 km wonderful trail way and pass near Goghgotavank Monastery Complex and old khachkars. The trail is finished near Kobayr Monastery Complex (12th-13th centuries). After short break and having rest we will have 10-15 minutes’ walk down to the highway, where the bus will wait us. We will be in Yerevan by late evening.
